Hi, all.

I realize this is a far cry from my usual posts, but I'm desperately trying to find work, as I know are so many others.
I don't have a wide range of interests, but anything that will make my CV more interesting is a plus, so I'm on the hunt for a potential list of free and accredited online courses.
If anyone knows where I can find something like this, please please let me know. I'll do anything to fill my time if it feels within reach of my current skillset, and hopefully that skillset can slowly expand as a result.

Anything helps. Thank you in advance.

@Estrella What skills do you already have/which ones do you want to expand? that might help me point you in a direction.

Public

@quanin I graduated with a degree in German (Would be useful anywhere else in the world, but isn't really in South Africa).
I've been a secretary for an organization I volunteer with for about 2 years, volunteer with an organization who does exchange programs for high school students and have been doing that for 3 years, so my CV looks decent.
I just find that all of this doesn't really leave me with a lot in terms of experience that jobs actually want, and I'm genuinely desperate at this point and would truly do just about anything to advance what I've already got going on, or tie into it somehow.

@Estrella Deque university offers accessibility testing courses, and they're free if you're disabled.

No geographic restrictions or proof of disability necessary, as far as I know.

@miki Very helpful, thanks. Will look into this.

@miki This is a good suggestion. The Deque courses are not perfect, and I wouldn't want to shoehorn all blind people into accessibility work. Nevertheless, the industry does need more disabled representation, from people who truly take it upon themselves to know what they're doing, and are able to incorporate but look beyond their own experiences. @Estrella

@Estrella free and accredited is tricky but edx.org/ is a good place to start. when i'm back home with my bookmarks this evening i'll drop a few more

@Estrella some more:
- alison.com/
- cognitiveclass.ai
- ocw.mit.edu/
- open.edu/openlearn/
- real.discount/ this one is tricky. you can get udemy coupon code, often for 100% off but they are time limited and you never know what's going to be available. you just need to keep coming back

@Estrella i really hope it helps

@Estrella HPI Hasso Plattner Institute has free online courses on IT and it has a good reputation, accreditation is not really a thing in Germany open.hpi.de/?locale=en . You could try courses on Big Data, that’s not just a hype but actually useful and employers acknowledge that.
