For today’s #AudioMo, I was really excited when a huge thunder clap shook the house, only for the rain to pass after less than a minute. So instead here’s the last thunder I got to record looking out a closed window with binaural microphones. https://piotrs.site/audio/audiomo21/09-Binaural-Rain.flac #audio #noxp
@pitermach This is what storms in New Mexico are like all the time. 1 or 2 big thunder claps, 10 mins of really hard rain, then nothing for the next 2 weeks.
@pitermach Got any mics you'd recommend? Wanting to make more field recordings with my Olympus. Think I'd like a shotgun/unidirectional, and maybe some good lapel-mounted ones that I could use for both stereo and binaural on a hat or something. Other thoughts welcome, of course.
@nolan Not really sure what to suggest, I haven't been shopping for microphones recently. I know for binaural microphones people used to really like the Sound professionals mics like the BMC3 and 12, I heard plenty of good recordings from them, but it's been a few years so I'm not 100% sure if you can still get them.
@pitermach Thanks, I remember Sound Professionals being the goto 10 years or so ago when I was last into this. I'll check them out.
