Yearly reminder to not give money to the Salvation Army. It is not a charity, it's a fundamentalist Christian organization that supports anti-queer policies. Support mutual aid resources instead.

Anyone with a display name that takes a screen reader more than 5 seconds to read should be forced to listen to it for 10 hours straight.

Luckily I see a lot less of that on Mastodon, but it still happens. Sighted people and their fancy unicode text.

Just found FicHub, a site for downloading fanfiction off various sites. Was also delighted to discover that the entire project seems to be open source. I'll be testing this with VoiceDream; I suspect that since I have to deliberately click a link to download the resulting epub, it will work better than some other similar projects. fichub.net/

British Columbia politics shit

I wish I could just move my friends out of there, or there was some easy way for them to do so.

British Columbia politics shit

Check the owners. They are pulling such fuckery. Sure BC housing needs to be fixed too but from what I've seen the owners of the buildings are more the problem than the middlemen. I mean personal choice for your own house I get, but you can't complain about tennits in the same ways when you partner with the government, but also the middlemen has some responsibility too, just the owners are much more responsible for the problem, IMPO. cbc.ca/news/canada/british-col

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to do something, I forget what, but it's something inconvenient.

From the article: “…disturbing trend of people defending their bigotry or prejudice by twisting the meaning of diversity. ‘If you love diversity so much, you shouldn’t make me conform to your opinion!’ or ‘You say you want diversity but you want everyone to agree with you!’ or ‘My opinion is one of many, and it’s part of diversity!’ The people who use this argument want us to tolerate intolerance.” #IDIC #StarTrek

Rant about Computing at 5AM, so you know it's full of wisdom!

I feel durty unless I put the article in this thread. benhoyt.com/writings/io-is-no- It just ignores the problems that windows and MacOS have. I don't think that was his intention though: Just me thinking big picture before I had a chance to read :D

They wanted to buy a whole new computer because of the performance of their video card. Doesn't sound like 0 IO to me.

You know, when I got someone into these third party windows, they told me they would never go back to regular windows, because of the framerates they could achieve just by changing to a less crammed windows. There was a bug in the anitial insider version of windows this was based on with explorer issues and when I told them about it they were like unless I notice deleted files I'm not going back. 30 frames to like 120FPS. Luckily it was just a blind issue, which has been long since resolved in windows and Rev. Yes they are getting the updates I force on them.

Then I read the article and I find out the article is actually about Ubuntu, OS where Firefox and Chromium has been the same speed for what feels like forever, if your not blind. I can see where he's coming from on Ubuntu if you can see but the rest of computing this doesn't apply to.

It's like yes maybe we're reaching that point in hardware but, what's the point in saying that when there's obvious ignored software , which re creates the feel of a hardware bottleneck? So much wasted article space.

IO is no longer the bottleneck? Yes it is. It's like old people think their names mean they can discount that software sucks and say there's no bottlenecks anymore. It's just that people care less now than they did when only tech people were into tech 20 years ago about quality software. I mean third party windows isn't a thing for nothing. I mean maybe to some people, but, not to me. Just feels like a grasping at straws argument when someone needs to buy a new computer so that windows defender and telemetry can allow their computer to run at the speed they remember.

No issues in the contact, Siri just decided to remove the word Voiceover from his email address. At least I said trivial things, and so far it's only happened once but I've been avoiding using siri with the contact, to be honest.

I feel like I'm forgetting something that's not sleep, since my Apple feedback has nothing added, but it showed up in the requests section. I wonder why that is? Am I forgetting something? Even on the web it's blank. I can see why they want to redesign this. Has anyone had this happen with Apple issues. Even as I write this I'm looking again just to make sure there's nothing ... and , it's still blank. I hope they fix Siri randomly deleting the first half of the left of an email address, though.

Question for anyone who uses android. Is there any sort of good internet radio player for Android? No I don't want something like VLC which can play web URL's, I want something like, say, Broadcasts or Triode for Android. Does anything exist?
