@jamey I was very sad when #Eventbrite stopped providing iCal links for events which I could easily import in my #NextCloud.
I know that converting #Eventbrite organizer events to ical calendar events is possible (thanks to https://eb-to-ical.daylightpirates.org/), but is it possible to get alerts of new events by an organizer via #rss? (besides with #killthenewsletter, I guess)
I've been getting emails intended for the organizer of an event on #Eventbrite. This person has set their email address to mine, with an extra dot, which gmail disregards.
I tried to contact them, but the "contact the organizer" form is broken. Eventbrite requires you to log in to contact support. I don't have an account. The AI chat is also completely broken.
"Luckily", I found that there's actually a bigger problem with hackers creating spam events.
Everything is broken, and nobody cares.
Looking for a good #Eventbrite #WordPress #Plugin that displays upcoming events and past events in a nice manner.
Any ideas?
The one I'm using now run by FullerWorks looks to be getting deprecated, even though it was updated 3 days ago!?

Well today #Eventbrite announced they are bringing the free plan back.
That's after announcing layoffs few weeks ago because of a major drop in ticket sales.
They entirely fucked it up. And now events have already moved on and discovered better alternative. Eventbrite interface is awful and hasn't been updated in 10 years, we host a few events a year and I know we are never coming back.
#enshittification doesn't always work

The #enshittification of #Eventbrite has failed.
In the past, you were always able to host events for free, and only pay them commission if you sell tickets (which was a fair business model).
Then in July 2023 they started to charge even to host free events.
What they failed to realize is that a lot of people were using Eventbrite because it was the least effort option, not because they loved it.
So everyone migrated to Lu.ma or other platforms which turns out are easier/better to use.

Maybe the industry was different when I was dating in my 20s (or maybe I just sucked) but online was fun but never took for me.
Young people are increasingly seeking out in-person events to meet partners, per a June report from event management platform Eventbrite.

#Eventbrite is removing a convenient feature of sending tickets as PDF and pushing users to installing their app.
"Moving forward, attendees will no longer receive PDF tickets via their order confirmation and reminder emails. Instead, they can conveniently access their tickets through the Eventbrite mobile app, where options such as 'Add to Apple Wallet' and saving tickets as images are available. "
There’s an app called Tixoom where events can provide tickets for online-only events. I went to their website and couldn’t find a way to search events. When I contacted their help desk, they said there is no way to search for events.this could have been so awesome for folks like me. Ah well. The only thing I can find that lets me search events is EventBrite. I’ve had a few people speak to me disdainfully for using EventBrite. They told me there are other ways to find online events. I’d like to know what those ways are, because I can’t find such a wide variety of advertised events anywhere else. #events #OnlineClasses #OnlineCourses #OnlineWorkshops #SearchFunctionaity #ShutIns #accessibility #apps #eventbrite
Clicking the #Eventbrite unsub link in the #spam yielded this: "You've successfully unsubscribed from Eventbrite's marketing emails for event-goers. You may receive other event recommendation emails, and you can unsubscribe there. You will continue to receive transactional emails related to tickets you have purchased." That's bullshit.
Unsubscribe means unsubscribe forever, from all your emails, not temporarily from an arbitrary subset you've carved out. Sheesh.

I wish #Eventbrite weren't so shitty, since organizations use it for events that are unfortunately "mandatory" for my family to attend.
Today they sent #spam to my wife and me despite the fact that neither of us has ever opted in to receiving bulk email from them and indeed we've both unsubscribed more than once.

PSA: Read #EventBrite's new #ToS very carefully - section 9 requires you to use arbitration and reduces the ability for you to make a class action against them.
This is another example of #enshittification (per @pluralistic) and Rebecca Giblin's work on #ChokepointCapitalism - this sort of clause is one of the ways of creating a chokepoint and reducing the power users of a platform have, while concentrating power in the hands of the platform.
