Die 170 Login-Versuche gestern und heute Nacht auf mein #WordPress Konto erfolgten wohl alle auf den Benutzernamen Admin. Da ich den Benutzer Admin gelöscht habe, konnten diese Angriffe nicht erfolgreich sein. Ich rate allen Administratoren von WordPress Seiten, ein anderes Administratorkonto einzurichten und Admin zu entfernen. Ein sicheres #Passwort ist wohl eine Selbstverständlichkeit. #hacking

@wyatt WordPress in particular is not strictly not necessary; other server-side blogging software has analogous features.

- create and edit posts using Markdown formatting, possibly with custom extensions
- preview HTML rendering of a post before it goes live
- upload media to include in posts
- let other writers create posts
- send Pingback or Webmention notifications to sites your posts cite and receive them from sites citing your posts
- present paginated lists of posts in HTML and Atom forms
- filter these lists by date or category tag
- perform full-text searches and present their replies
- let readers create comments on a post or another comment, with preview of the comments
- set privileges on who may comment and what may appear in comments
- show, hide, or delete comments and mentions

Which of these features are dispensable?

Hmm maybe I will give one of the #WordPress static site generator plugins a try again 🤔

If I pull my site to my local machine and then generate a static version, I can put that up on a very cheap server and have basically limitless file space.

There's one plug-in I suspect will not cooperate though. I really like using the Geo Mashup plug-in and it would be sad to lose that.

Also how would commenting be impacted? Believe it or not, I find commenting to be a useful feature even in 2025 😅
