HumanwareWe're thrilled to announce that version 2.4 will be released tomorrow, Wednesday, December 11th, at 12 PM EST. This update applies to the following devices:
Mantis Q40
Brailliant BI 40X
Brailliant BI 20X
BrailleOne
Chameleon 20

Key Features of This Update
1. Text-To-Speech (TTS) and Audio Capabilities for Mantis Q40
The highly anticipated Text-To-Speech and audio features are now available for the Mantis Q40! As the device lacks onboard speakers, we’ve enabled audio through Bluetooth pairing with headphones or external speakers.
This feature is also accessible on other devices, offering flexibility for TTS and audio playback.
2. New Modules
We’ve added three powerful new modules to enhance your experience:
Wikipedia: Requires an active internet connection.
Wiktionary: Requires an active internet connection.
WordNet: An offline dictionary.
For Wikipedia and Wiktionary, pages load based on your selected braille table. For instance, if you're using Spanish braille, the corresponding Spanish Wikipedia or Wiktionary page will appear. WordNet, however, works only with English braille tables.
These modules provide great utility, such as enabling word lookups directly within the Victor Reader app.
3. EPUB 2 Support
We've introduced support for unprotected EPUB 2 files. Please note that protected files or EPUB 3 formats are not supported. If a file fails to open, it’s likely due to these restrictions.
Special Thanks
This update wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of Dominic, Etienne, and Francois.

@Woody Someday they should put out one with speakers built-in that might motivate me to upgrade especially if they had any sort of trade-in or recycling discount. A girl can dream anyway.

Public

@robini71 What is that saying, hope is eternal. I always like looking forward to see what happens down the track with software and hardware, and no, I know nothing about he future in case you were wondering grin.

Public

@Woody Oh I didn't think you did; and hope is one of my favorite words so, I like you, enjoy seeing what lies ahead.

Public

@Woody @robini71 Yes you do LOL. You have 8 ball hidden amongst your tech pile on your desk LOL!

Public

@Woody David, perhaps you have some clout in this. I would love to be able to open Bookshare epubs in the Mantis. Apparently that isn't possible yet, but it seems a desirable feature.

Public

@DeanEquity Don't know about clout smile, but I'll certainly feed it back to the team in Canada.

Public

@Woody I really hope the epub support comes to the NLS EReader.
