Two consecutive posts on my feed: "I recommend TPLink router." "Thousands of TPLink routers infected, turned into botnet to spread malware."
@codeofamor @x0 every explanation from security experts will tell you nothing specific about TP-Link ones is any less secure, it's the same issues as usual, people fail to update their router, and do not change them off default admin credentials. There was a breakdown of brands of routers found being used for things like bot nets and they were not significantly more common, just more widely used.
@dhamlinmusic @x0 I don't doubt it. I actually find TPLink as a whole to be a reputable and advancing brand. It's one of few infrastructure brand names that has repeatedly rubbed me the right way be it by innovation, robustness, or long-term reliability.
@codeofamor @dhamlinmusic Obviously I don't trust slashdot as a primary source but this is the link in the post in question, which has some news articles in it from Tom's hardware and one other thing I think. https://it.slashdot.org/story/25/03/11/207242/thousands-of-tp-link-routers-have-been-infected-by-a-botnet-to-spread-malware?utm_source=rss1.0mainlinkanon&utm_medium=feed
