This is your reminder to check in on everyone. Not just the vulnerable ones. Not just the ones who show their feelings openly. Check in with all the people around you. Even the strong people. Even the happy people. Even the ones who say they're fine. So many things could be going on below the surface that you don't know about. Under that happy exterior that seems okay, they could be dealing with something very difficult. Open communication with them. Provide them a comfortable safe space within your friendship and company. The stronger people have feelings too. The strongest people need support too. Often it makes all the difference. You could make a difference for them.
It's also okay to not be okay. Whoever you are, you have feelings. You have very valid feelings. As hard as they can be to deal with, they are valid. It's okay to be struggling, and it's okay to talk about it. You don't have to be perfect. You don't have to constantly be strong for everyone. It's okay to ask for help. It's okay to let someone in and show them how you truly feel. It's not shameful, it's not wrong, it's not bad or harmful. You're not broken, you're not invalid, you're not a burden. You are valid in feeling whatever you feel, and you deserve support through all of it. Read that as many times as you need to.
Whoever you are, if things are going well, I hope they continue doing so. And if you're struggling, I hope things become better for you. Sending positive vibes everywhere.
@Kaliah thanks for this lovely post, it's a really positive and true message.
@rupertcutler Hello! And, of course. I figure people need to hear that from time to time.
@Kaliah often the strongest people are the ones who need help the most, because the ones who act strong, have the hardest time asking for help...
@gemma Absolutely that. Often the strongest people feel they have to maintain their strength, their support, their confidence, for those around them. And they have difficulty asking for help because of it. They absolutely do often need help the most
Yes, and if you can, you might also try to check in on the regular with the rightwingers in your life.
Yes, they shouldn’t have voted for Trump or the Tories or whoever—but to be blunt, #MentalHealth on the other side isn’t great, and hearing from someone who cares could make a huge difference, even if it’s a commie like you.
Needless to say, this is especially important if they have access to firearms.
@Kaliah The same goes for you, by the way. How are you doing today?
@summersun704 I'm doing pretty good. How are you?
@Kaliah Doing well, thanks. Life is fantastic here. Caught up with some friends this afternoon which was super fantastic!
@summersun704 That's very nice. Catching up with friends is always a great thing to do
@Kaliah Thank you so much for posting this
@Kaliah So beautiful, and I am, especially these days.
@Kaliah It's true, I say this all the time on your friends man, it's hard out here.
