So yesterday we went over to our best friends house. We had Mexican for dinner, and caught up on life with the both of them. I thought i talked entirely too much, but no one minded a bit. After dinner and listening to some music we watched a couple documentaries and a movie. I saw the movie Little Shop of Horrors for the first time which I thought was pretty good. Apparently there's a version of that movie with a different ending as well as a version that's not a musical which I'd be curious to see.
The next thing we knew it was 1:30 in the morning so we ended up coming home and going right to sleep.

"Hey, you're good with computers, can you run a Mastodon server for me and my friends?"

Nope. Nope nope nope. No, not even a little bit.

This is my fear of Mastodon becoming more mainstream - everyone who is "good with computers" is going to get yet another thankless job they take on, unpaid, will inevitably result in hurt feelings if you have to ban a friend who is harassing people, and is simply expected that you're on call to fix it any time it's offline.

My Thanksgiving was a blast. We went over to dad's as you all may or may not know. I never realized how funny dad was and how well I knew him till I whispered to Bob. "Hey, my dad hasn't said the f word yet." No longer than two seconds after that dad does just this and I do the quietly dying laughing thing.
For dinner we had turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, (the guys had those), corn casserole, green bean casserole, stuffing rolls and dad surprised us with making some chocolate pudding for dessert. We watched some football as well as Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune then ended up going to karaoke for a bit.
Now I'm going to walk on the treadmill and try to walk off some of the pounds I probably gained over the weekend. And for dinner what am I having? Leftovers of leftovers. I only say it that way because I didn't eat all my leftovers from lunch. I will though. Thanksgiving leftovers is one of my favorite things to reheat.

On the way to dad's the Xtfm Autumation playgh The Stone Pines. What a wonderful band that is, or was? I wonder if they're still around, and if the singer is doing anything music wise?

Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate. Happy Thursday to those who don't. No matter what you do today be sure to spend the day with loved ones. Friends, family, a partner. Just have a wonderful Thursday.

Oh, wow, I did a poll last week to see what kind of show I should do this week. I just saw the results just now. Is there a way to check to see if people have voted on the poll, or do you have to go back to that particular post to see the results? I didn't see anything in my Mastodon notifications. If I'd seen them I would have acknowledged the results. Thanks in advance if anyone answers.

Just a reminder for those interested... The 96th Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, taking place on Thursday, November 24 at 9am ET with an encore presentation at 2pm ET, will once again be available with live audio description on NBC by Described Video.

I've got Tweesecake open during my show, but i turned off streaming. i"m not sure if that'll use bandwidth or not, but the stream's not gone back to Auto yet so I'm excited.

I wonder what my parents did to fight boredom before the internet. I asked my 17 brothers and sisters and they didn't know either.

Here's a thought, people.

If you write, you're a writer. You're not aspiring. You are.

Whether you're pro, new, whatever, you're still a writer.

Don't diminish what you do.

The lesson to take from the big layoffs at Twitter and Facebook is this: "The job will never love you back." No matter how much effort you put in, no matter how clever you are, no matter how long you've committed yourself to $COMPANY, when push comes to shove, you're just a replaceable part in the machine.

Keep your weekends and your evenings. Leave your bugs at work. Your time is for you, and your boss won't send you flowers.

Slept well last night. I don't even remember waking up once which was awesome. Today includes lunch, then getting ready for and doing todays Gina's Organized Chaos. Another post will be done about that once I've had food and caffeine. Not sure what we are having yet. Torn between Hothead Burrito and wings. I've not had wings in a good while, but we've not had Hothead in a while.

If you're like me, then you were really happy to learn about Mastodon's enthusiastic support for image descriptions, and you were eager to join in.

Then you went to actually write something and realized you have no idea how to present visual info in a way that is helpful/enjoyable to those who are #VisuallyImpaired or #Blind.

I found this guide really informative:

Post-viral Edit: Don't forget to give the author some love on medium. They did the work!

I'm not super intelligent, but I am very kind. I don't expect to change the world by curing a disease or inventing something great or doing some heroic deed, but I hope that my heart felt words get somebody through a tough time who does do one of those things.

We do not all need to change the world, we can potentially have the same impact by taking the time to change just one person's world at a time.

This post by @nolan, the developer of the Pinafore web client, on Mastodon is excellent. His warnings about Mastodon and our social habits are important for us to consider. I agree that we should truly consider its future.

Lately I've been falling asleep to books narrated by @Kayray. Two nights ago I chose Swiss Family Robinson, the night before I went with Heidi, and last night I decided on the Melendy books by Elizabeth Enright. Those books got me thinking about the book Thimble Summer also by Enright and how I love that book. I read that so many times when I was a child. Can't go wrong with a main character named Garnet, which happens to be my birthstone.

Today started out a bit earlier for me. Bob had something to do which meant he had to get up early. He called me and let me know that he was on the way back to the house and asked if i wanted to get out of my pajamas and have lunch. I agreed to this.
We had to drop the food for Thanksgiving off to dad, so we did just this. We talked to dad, and instead of Bob and I going out to lunch we decided to have Wendy's. Bob and i had the Asiago chicken sandwiches, we all 3 had baked potatoes and we finally got to try the new mint frosties Wendy's has for the holiday season. i absolutely love them and can't wait to have another. after we got home I ended up having a nap which i don't at all regret.
