Question for my friends on who have smart phones, do you choose to turn Wi-Fi calling on or off and why? Thanks in advance for indulging my curiosity once again.

@robini71 I keep it on though I can never get my phone to default to it at home, but when visiting my parents in VT it's the Only way I have any signal.

@dhamlinmusic Ah I understand. Thanks as always for chiming on in.

@robini71 I use it because it makes it so that the areas in my house with sketchy cell reception don't actually cause a problem. I have far fewer calls drop that way.

@starchild Ah thanks for letting me know.

@robini71 Yep, no problem!

Tech Singer

@robini71 Yes, because the Wi-Fi signal is sometimes, depending on the location, more stable than the mobile signal. This is very dependent on my particular circumstances, though, it may not apply to other people.

Robin Frost

@techsinger That makes sense.

Eden Linnea

@robini71 I have it on but not sure if it makes a difference.

Robin Frost

@EdenLinnea I understand.

@robini71 I always enable it to improve the chance of having higher audio quality. Sometimes, the quality can be just as good when not using it and the downside is that if you move out of range, the call could get cut off.

Robin Frost

@DavidGoldfield Yes that's what my research seemed to indicate too. So far I've seemed to have left it off on this year's devices but was curious what others chose and why as I said.

@robini71 I always turn it on because the cell signal in this building is lousy, I only have one bar and without wi-fi calling wouldn't be able to use the phone properly.

Robin Frost
Public

@lulu_bear That is totally understandable. Buildings can cause issues that way that's for sure.

@robini71 I turn it on.
Signal is better that way.
I'm also able to use my Mac, iPad and watch to make and receive calls with it on.

Steve Mann

@ChocolatePie @robini71 I usually keep it turned on. wifi calling helps pull in a much better signal on conventional calls, unless wifi itself is lousing up.

@maerlynofmiria @robini71 yep i keep mine turned on too.

@ChocolatePie @robini71 I've notied that when it's off, regular calls have a habit of dropping more often.

David Nason

@robini71 @ChocolatePie On because the mobile network is quite weak in my apartment. Most of my calls are on WhatsApp anyway, but occasionally I still receive or need to make an old fashioned phone call.

Robin Frost

@DavidNason @ChocolatePie Ah I hear ya. Thanks for weighing on in.

@robini71 It's off for no particular reason other than I've never had a need for it.

@robini71 @ChocolatePie Depends if the network supports wifi calling. i believe lestways here in nz only one does and if yuo make calls over wifi then the minutes come off your plan. can be handy if no cell reception in your area

@robini71 Hi Robinn. I'm on T-mobile and keep WiFi calling turned on. It really seems to improve call quality for me.
