Dane 🇺🇲🇮🇪 ☮️<p>I've begun the process of changing my email address on my various personal services over to the new mailbox.org account.</p><p>Once i get the majors (banking, doctor's office, etc) out of the way, then I start switching over my socials, then alerting friends and family.</p><p>I'm not doing this all at once, mind you. A little bit each day. It's easier on my adhd.</p><p>Thanks a lot, <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/Proton" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Proton</span></a>. All you had to do was stay true to the mission.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/ProtonFail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ProtonFail</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/email" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>email</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/movingon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>movingon</span></a></p>
chronohart<p>Officially took my first step in divesting from <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/Proton" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Proton</span></a>: I dropped my 2-year Unlimited sub down to a monthly Mail Plus sub. I haven't been using a VPN in a while anyway, so I'm losing literally no functionality here. And the proration credit gives me nearly 2 years to get out, so... no rush, I guess. </p><p>When I finally need a VPN again, I think I'll go with <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/MullvadVPN" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MullvadVPN</span></a>. Still working out what email provider to move to... </p><p><a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/ProtonMail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ProtonMail</span></a> <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/ProtonVPN" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ProtonVPN</span></a> <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/ProtonFail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ProtonFail</span></a></p>
Julian Oliver<p>Fast &amp; functional <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/selfhosted" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>selfhosted</span></a> mail transport, chat, collab pads, 'cloud' etc are absolutely doable in 2025. Arguably, as we go forward, these will become increasingly critical to the resilience &amp; health of whole communities.</p><p>Building up &amp; maintaining a server can appear daunting, but is best be approached like a community garden. The skills to build, seed, protect, grow &amp; nurture can be learned, then shared on. Governance eases the more that work is shared. 1/2</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/protonfail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>protonfail</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/protonmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>protonmail</span></a></p>
