I applied for a US tourist visa 2 months ago. Today, I went to the US embassy for an interview, and my application got approved! I’m waiting for my passport to be delivered to know which visa I get. And then, travel planning can happen. I’m hoping to see some friends in the US, and budget-permitting, attend one of the blindness conventions in July. But most especially, having a US visa means I can also apply for an electronic travel authorization and visit @simon and friends in Canada. How exciting!
@hmaealdeza Congrats, that seems like a lot of work. I'm planning to apply for a tourist visa too, but to Canada, and the number of things I need to do for that feels overwhelming lol.
@Caoimhe Thanks! It was a lot of work indeed, but very much worth it. I was thinking of applying for a tourist visa to Canada as well, but they have some requirements that would be difficult for me to obtain. And since the Philippines has recently been added to the countries that can apply for an electronic travel authorization while you have a valid US visa, I tried that instead.
@hmaealdeza That's cool. I'm glad it worked for you :)
@Caoimhe Thanks! Me, too. It's such a relief to finally have that status.
@davetaylor2112 Watch out! I'm gonna visit the UK next. Lol!
@davetaylor2112 Probably only when a certain Filipino friend is also there, of course.
@hmaealdeza @simon I am so, so happy for you. Big warm hugs and smiles.
@singingnala @simon Thanks, Rose! *hugs back* I hope you’ll be in Canada when I am. I’d like to meet you.
@hmaealdeza @simon I was actually going to ping you about coming out your way. But if you're coming this way, that could work too. Please keep me updated. I look forward to hearing more about your journey this way.
@singingnala @simon I mean, we can still plan that. But I’ll meet you on your side of the world first. I’m looking forward to this.
@hmaealdeza @simon That's really exciting! Will still have to try and get you over to Australia at some point too.
@DamoMcMorrow @simon Of course. What’s exciting about getting a US visa is that it opens a lot of travel possibilities for me. I’d love very much to visit Australia.
@hmaealdeza @simon And Marion and I would certainly love to show you around over here and meet you in person.
@DamoMcMorrow @simon Yay! I’m also looking forward to learning more cooking techniques you can share.
