#nespresso vertuo query. Greetings everyone. I am wondering if anybody has looked at the Nespresso vertuo lattissima machine? I do not know how long this machine has been available in the United States and the UK however, it has only been in Australia for about three weeks as far as I know. This machine has buttons for producing different coffees such as latte espresso and others plus it also comes with a milk jug which allows you to Froth the milk and the machine does it all for you. It takes the vertuo Nespresso pods and I am wondering if anybody has played with these machines or owns one and if so, how is this machine from a blindness perspective? Thank you to anyone who may be able to assist.
@scottrut Hey Scott, I don’t have one myself but I think I have seen one. It was in store, and it was about 8 months ago. It was seemingly quite simple to use and didn’t have that many complicated functions.
@scottrut I was thinking of buying it actually but didn’t end up doing so.
@blindmouse88 This machine is quite expensive and Nespresso site has it listed for $749 but they will always have a cheaper price around Christmas time so I would wait for a little while and see what happens around November December. I own one of the older Nespresso pod machines and I love this Nespresso stuff. I have been a Nespresso user since 2013 I think from memory
@scottrut I too love Nesspresso stuff I have a Nespresso machine, but I use pods from a company called ExpressPods. Their pods are biodegradable.
@blindmouse88 Have you got the original machine or one of the new ones that do the 230 mil cups? The older machines would only make 45 mil cups of coffee which were too small in my opinion.
@scottrut And they make hot choccolate pods also.
@scottrut Though I may start getting my pods from Nespresso again and just order the hot chocolates from expressPods. I don’t know.
@blindmouse88 My favourite flavours are the new golden caramel flavour as well as the original Melozio, flavour.
@scottrut I have an insensa Mini machine and I love it it is a simple machine and works incredibly well.
@scottrut It’s one of the originals.
@scottrut So I may think about updating it at some stage.
@scottrut Bigger cups of coffee sound like what I need. :)
@blindmouse88 I have the vertuo plus machine it has a motorised lid where you open the top put in your capsule close the lid and press a button on the top and it reads the barcode and makes your coffee from reading the barcode. Just like the original machine that has larger coffee sizes and I feel the coffees are tastier from these machines
@blindmouse88 This is one of the reasons why I got rid of the original machine and replace it with the one listed in my previous post. I was wanting a larger cup size and these 230 mil mug size pods work perfectly for me man.
@scottrut I haven’t experienced those kinds but I do know my machine is one of the mini models.
@blindmouse88 I think my machine has dropped in price now to 299 it is taller and a little bit bigger but I think you’ll be okay with it I would go and touch one in the middle of the store and see what you think.
@scottrut I got the machine I have now because I lived in a tiny apartment and needed more bench space and I still have that machine here now but at some stage in the future I am thinking of updating it.
@blindmouse88 They make a machine similar to the one you have and it’s only $229 call the vertuo pop. It is very small just like the machine you currently have newer
@scottrut Ah okay cool, I will check it out might get one for a Xmas present for myself.
@blindmouse88 I will send you a demo of my coffee machine which I made last year and I feel that it may give you an idea of what this machine is like.
@scottrut @blindmouse88 Chiming in on this convo because I'd like the demo of your machine also. I already have an original nespresso machine, and love the one I have, but still like to see other machines demonstrated.
@johnl1129 @blindmouse88 I will record a new demo tomorrow seeing as I think I got rid of the other demo because it was a few years old so I’ll make a new one tomorrow morning and upload it here for everybody to check out.
@scottrut @blindmouse88 Awesome. I'll try to remember to watch for it. :)
@scottrut @johnl1129 Thank you Scott I too would like to see how it works.
@johnl1129 @blindmouse88 The eight minute demo has now been uploaded I hope you all enjoy it.
@scottrut @johnl1129 Thank you Scott I will check it out as soon as I can am quite busy this morning.
@blindmouse88 @johnl1129 No problem let me know what you think. I was actually impressed with how this particular demo came out.
@scottrut Oh? Really, wow. Thanks for the info. I will have to look at it.
@blindmouse88 It is very tiny it is for those who don’t have much space but I can’t remember what size pods this particular machine takes. It is listed under V vertuo line so the new pods should work in this machine. My particular machine has a collection point where you can put up to 10 empty pods once the machine has finished with the pod. The smaller machines do not have this capability.
@scottrut Oh thank you very much for that. I still need to send you a voice recording I’m sorry I have yet to do that have been busy with my guide dog training sorry.
@blindmouse88 No problem at all when you get a moment feel free to send one.
@scottrut No mine definitely does not have that capability. But it does have a tiny keep the empty pods in.
@scottrut Oh dear ExpressPods don’t make the vertuo pods. But that’s okay I will still consider it.
@blindmouse88 Thank you very much for this info. I went to JB hi-fi to look at them last week and they said that they don’t have that particular model because it is only a new model they’ve got other ones that are similar but this particular model I think is only been out for about a month or thereabouts. I could be wrong and I stand corrected.
@scottrut I could e wrong too if it was that particular model too but it was similar to that one which you are asking about. It does the milk for you and all that.
@scottrut So I may not have been that helpful at all, but I hope you have found it at least helpful.
@scottrut Hi Scott. I have the original Lattissima 1, which was designed for the original pods, and have found it very good. I bought it because it was one of the few that still had decent buttons and a steamer type milk frother. I'd be interested in any info you're able to find out. I assume the buttons just govern the amount of milk, since the virtuo machines read the barcode off the pod to determine the coffee shot.
@DamoMcMorrow On the new machine mentioned in my initial post, there is a button from my understanding for the different coffee types. The milk jug that sits on this machine will do what it has to do and it’ll actually steam the milk and add the milk into your coffee at the same time so you do not have to pull the milk in from the external milk frother I have yet to touch one of these machines so when I do, I will let you know more details.
@scottrut Cheers. It sounds very much like the Virtuo equivalent of the machine I have.
@DamoMcMorrow I will be posting my demo and physical description either tomorrow or Friday morning so stay tuned.
@DamoMcMorrow For those interested in my coffee machine demo I am now uploading it and it’ll be in a separate post I’m keen to hear peoples comments.
@scottrut Thanks for that. Great demo. It's a lot quieter than the Virtuo Pop isn't it. I like the idea of being able to make a bigger cup with those machines than you can with the original.
@DamoMcMorrow Exactly right. The new machine that I mentioned here yesterday even has a 535 mil sharing pot sold separately and you can share one pot between 3 to 4 people. That is the $749 machine that I mentioned yesterday.
