I’m diving into Reddit for the first time and decided to start with the Dystopia app, which is designed to be more accessible for blind users. I’ve found the r/Blind subreddit, and it seems like a great place to connect with others, but I’m still figuring out how to post on there. If anyone has tips or guidance on how to navigate the process, I’d really appreciate the help!
I’m excited to explore Reddit and see what the community has to offer. Any advice for a first-time user would be awesome!
@Matthew2468 a new post is in more options and submit in Dystopia. Not the most intuitive spot!
@cachondo @Matthew2468 Yeah, at this point the official app while still not perfect would be my suggestion for first time users, both the android and iOS apps are quite good now for screen reader users. I say this as one of the mods on r/blind who uses the app almost exclusively.
@dhamlinmusic @Matthew2468 I joined with Dystopia back in ... hmm. 2019?
SO I'd never even used the official app. I'll move when I have to but I'm happy enough for now.
@Matthew2468 welcome. I've spent a lot of time on Reddit over the past few years, and Dystopia is awesome! to post, hit the More Options button on the top of the screen, then scroll over to where it says Submit. you'll then be asked if you want to post a photo, link or plain text. Hit text and you'll go straight to the edit field. Hope that helps.
@dotsonapage thank you so much! Really means a lot. Made a post a few hours ago. Now trying to figure out how to comment... lol. sorry for the many questions.
@Matthew2468 In the "more options" at the top you will also find the "subscribe" option, which you will have to use first before posting to the subreddit.
@Matthew2468 I'm not sure about Reddit, but a lot of the R/Blind community have moved over to https://rblind.com/ (which runs on Lemmy, which is part of the Fediverse, like us here on Mastodon :) )
