In case you missed it, the Fediverse's livestreaming platform OwnCast has official apps:
iPhone, iPad, Apple TV
https://apps.apple.com/app/owncasts/id6451178968
Roku
https://channelstore.roku.com/details/2179326b6b85869a1a3a18d48ca76de6/owncasts
You don't have to use these though, all of OwnCast's features are available through the web.
(OwnCast is like the Fediverse's alternative to Twitch, it's a livestreaming platform with a built-in chat service. More info at https://fedi.tips/owncast-live-streaming-and-chat-on-the-fediverse)
@FediTips @Mendi_Tech App description only says you can choose streams to watch on the go. Any idea if you can use it to stream on your device? I'm desperately seeking an alternative to Facebook Live.
@pianomarian @FediTips I'm not sure. I haven't looked at it yet.
As far as I know the app is just for watching.
OwnCast streams are made using standard streaming software but you need your own OwnCast server to broadcast streams.
If you're wanting to stream on someone else's server, you might want to look into using PeerTube livestreaming (but that doesn't have official built-in chat).
