I am curious to know if you use a #PasswordManager which one do you prefer? I prefer one that works well with both #IOS and #Windows. I am using #BitWarden. For the most part, I like it pretty well.
@CoryJackson I self-host my own bitwarden. I used one password for years, but then I found this. and never looked back.
@munchkinbear @CoryJackson I thought about doing that, but wondering about backups? Is there a way to back up the self hosted password vault to their cloud instance or something?
@jfayre @munchkinbear @CoryJackson Not really, but your local bitwarden instance will always keep a synced copy of the vault. If something ever breaks remotely, you should be able to export that and then re-import into another instance. You can either selfhost something like Vaultwarden which is extremely lightweight and reliable, or you can just pay Bitwarden a pretty tiny amount of money for premium. Or you can use the free version, but then you don't get TOTP, password sharing, and some other features. I host my own but honestly I should just pay them anyway; they make a great product. I have 0 complaints about it.
@simon @jfayre @CoryJackson I wrote a script that backs up the bwdata/mssql/backups folder to an external source, but that's just me.
@munchkinbear @jfayre @CoryJackson Honestly, I should probably do that, but the VPS itself is backed up so that feels a little unnecessary. I could include it on my keychain USB stick though, I suppose.
