Today I learned that rubber bands dry out over time and can break. I have no idea who might ever care about this, but it looked weird enough to surprise me when I saw it. So if there's someone who didn’t know, you're welcome! You now know one more useless fact.
@Caoimhe This is also true about elastic bands in clothes by the way. A lot more rare I think, but I've seen in happen, particularly but not exclusively with socks.
