dear #VoiceOver users of #iOS 18.5 betas, what happens to the virtual keyboard? for me it keeps popping up and hiding in edit fields with a melodious sound, I cannot really enter texts now reliably. Any suggestions, is it a bug or a new setting? Thanks! #accessibility #iPhone
@menelion I don't use beta versions. However, what you describe sounds like you might be turning quicknav on and off. This is usually done by pressing the left and right arrow keys together at once. It gives a short sound cue which rises if quicknav is turned on or descends if turned off. perhaps, there's a setting which controls when this activates automatically. Hope that helps.
@mfeir It's about the built-in touch keyboard, not a hardware one.
@menelion Unfortunately, I have no other ideas. Hopefully, some other helpful soul will figure out what's happening.
@mfeir Thank you anyways Michael! Without your book my first voiceOver experience would have been extremely frustrating.
@menelion I'm glad to hear that it was helpful. I'm currently editing the third edition and should have it ready by the end of may. The 11 Reader app is very helpful for catching mistakes.
@mfeir I'm especially thankful for the fact that you provide it free and in a format accessible on a Windows PC. That's extremely valuable, thank you!
@menelion Right after I published the first edition, I was asked to provide a version in MS Word format. That's easy to do on my iPhone. I would be happy for any blindness organization to make my guide available through their libraries.
